Colon Cancer Symptoms can be very specific, but the best measure is to test early. Did you know that more than 145,000 people will be diagnosed with
colorectal
cancer this year? The following are a few colon cancer symptoms:
- A change in normal Bowel habits
- Dark or bright red blood in the stool
- Weight loss for no apparent reason
- Naseua and vomiting
- Diarrhea, constipation, and or feeling that the bowel does not completely empty
- Persistent gas pains, bloating, fullness, and/or cramps
If you have one or more of the colon cancer symptoms listed above, it does not automatically mean you have colon cancer, as some of the symptoms can point to other issues. Why take a chance?
The key is early detection. One of the simplest tests you can take is the
Fecal occult blood test (FOBT). It
checks for blood in the stool. The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends men and women have an FOBT every year beginning at age 50.
It can be a take home multiple sample test, that can be completed and taken back to the doctor's office.
Raising awareness of colon cancer with new and innovative campaigns is a constant process. New imaging equipment and techniques are constantly being developed. Recognizing the cancerous cells at an earlier lifestage is always a goal. Don't think you have to wait until you turn 50 to get a test. The fact is that if everybody had a test done at 50, 1000's of lives would be saved. If that age was reduced to 40, the number would be even higher by the simple act of early detection. If you have any of the colon cancer symptoms, by all means get a quick test done with your doctor.

Colon Cancer Support is an essential part of the treatment. Being surrounded with family and friends, developing a great support team, and instant communication is essential. Such is the case with my friend Tracy. He is currently fighting colon cancer and needs your support. Thanks to the folks at Caringbridge, a web site has been specifically set up for him and you can visit right here!

Visit the site, read the daily updates, and sign the guestbook. Words of encouragement will help Tracy in his fight with Colon Cancer, through your support. If you have had any type of cancer, or have worked with those going through the challenges associated with it, the need for support is essential. There are excellent support groups that you can visit in person, but you don't always feel up to attending. What better way to send immediate feedback for someone who really needs it. You can even Bookmark tracy's site from right here! It only takes a couple minutes to stop by Tracy's site and sign the guestbook with some encouraging words.
